Step by step

Getting ashore

Most ships dock at Dublin Port's Alexandra Basin, about 3 km east of the city centre. Some smaller ships anchor at Dún Laoghaire.

  1. 1
    Ride the shuttle

Cruise lines run shuttles into the city centre (often near Merrion Square).

  2. 2
    Explore the centre

Trinity College, Grafton Street and Temple Bar are within a 15-minute walk of each other.

  3. 3
    Head out of town

Glendalough is about an hour; Howth 30 minutes by DART train.

💡 Pro move: Book Trinity College's Book of Kells and the Guinness Storehouse in advance — both use timed tickets.

Port-specific access research

Mobility & accessibility in Dublin

The Guinness Storehouse has a documented ramp/lift route and a separate accessible entrance. Its sensory resources also make it possible to plan beyond mobility alone.

Published sources reviewed October 17, 2026. This is desk research, not an on-site access audit. Access can change with the ship, berth, equipment and operating conditions.

Attractions and excursions: what changes the choice

Guinness Storehouse

Market Street accessible entrance

Use the call button at the Market Street entrance and follow the lift route. Ramps or lifts serve the experience; loan wheelchairs are first-come and should not replace a necessary prearranged device.

Official access information ↗

Gravity Bar and sensory-friendly visit

Capacity and sensory considerations

The operator limits wheelchair capacity in Gravity Bar and provides sensory maps, quieter tours and reduced-noise sessions. Book the appropriate session and allow for a wait rather than assuming immediate bar access.

A practical way to plan this port

Planning suggestion: Reserve a Storehouse visit with the correct entrance and a prebooked accessible transfer from the actual Dublin-area landing.

Confirm before booking

  • Lift dimensions for your device and current Gravity Bar capacity.
  • Whether your ship's arrival uses a tender and whether that permits your mobility aid.
