Seward sits at the head of Resurrection Bay and is the start or end point for many one-way Gulf of Alaska cruises. It's the gateway to Kenai Fjords National Park, with tidewater glaciers, puffins and orcas.

Step by step
Getting ashore
Ships dock at the Seward cruise terminal on the north side of town.
1
Arrive by rail or road
Many guests take the Alaska Railroad or a motorcoach from Anchorage (about 2.5 hours).
2
Ride the free shuttle
A seasonal shuttle links the terminal, harbour and downtown.
3
Explore before you sail
Kenai Fjords day cruises and Exit Glacier fit well into a pre-cruise day.
💡 Pro move: Take the Alaska Railroad's Coastal Classic between Anchorage and Seward — it's one of the most scenic rides in North America.

Port-specific access research
Mobility & accessibility in Seward
Seward offers both accessible indoor wildlife viewing and a defined glacier-view loop, while boat access depends on the vessel.
Published sources reviewed October 17, 2026. This is desk research, not an on-site access audit. Access can change with the ship, berth, equipment and operating conditions.
Attractions and excursions: what changes the choice
Alaska SeaLife Center
Wheelchair accessible with limited loan chairs
The center confirms wheelchair access and a small loan supply. It lists summer shuttle and taxi options but does not establish that every listed vehicle has a lift, so book the transport specification separately.
NPS describes a one-mile loop of pavement and compressed gravel with a slight descent and accessible nature-center/restroom facilities. Snow can prevent access around spring road opening. This is a distant glacier-view route, not a promise of reaching the ice.
Planning suggestion: pair a confirmed adapted transfer with either the SeaLife Center or the Glacier View Loop; assess a fjord cruise by its named boat.
Confirm before booking
Current Exit Glacier road/trail opening and surface conditions.
Wheelchair lift and securement on road transport.
Boat doorway, boarding ramp and accessible toilet for any cruise.
