Piraeus is the port of Athens and Greece's largest cruise hub — the start and end point for countless Greek isles cruises. From here it's 30–40 minutes to the Acropolis, Plaka's tavernas and the brilliant Acropolis Museum.

Port-specific access research
Mobility & accessibility in Piraeus (Athens)
Athens has documented access at the Acropolis and its museum, but the lift to the ancient summit is a separate operational dependency from a museum visit.
Published sources reviewed October 17, 2026. This is desk research, not an on-site access audit. Access can change with the ship, berth, equipment and operating conditions.
Attractions and excursions: what changes the choice
Acropolis archaeological site
Slope lift and adapted summit paths
The EU accessibility centre describes a slope lift and about 500 metres of improved routes connecting summit monuments. Arrange the designated approach and check current lift operation; the improvement does not make every ancient surface accessible.
The museum's visitor leaflet documents elevator access and accessible toilets on all levels. This offers an indoor alternative if the hill's lift or weather prevents the planned archaeological visit.
