Mobility & accessibility in Anacortes
Anacortes' historic museum uses a staff-assisted lift; the waterfront heritage centre and its steamboat are separate visits requiring separate route checks.
Published sources reviewed October 17, 2026. This is desk research, not an on-site access audit. Access can change with the ship, berth, equipment and operating conditions.
Attractions and excursions: what changes the choice
Carnegie Museum
Staff-assisted lift documented in city assessment
The city's museum access assessment records designated parking, accessible approach and a lift requiring staff assistance that serves two floors. The assessment dates from 2016, so confirm present lift operation and the entrance to use rather than treating it as a current inspection.
The city lists the shore-side Maritime Heritage Center and the historic W.T. Preston at 703 R Avenue with separate opening arrangements. It does not document equivalent wheelchair access aboard the steamboat. Ask which interpretation is available ashore if vessel boarding is unsuitable.
Planning suggestion: organize a staff-confirmed Carnegie gallery visit and waterfront interpretation, adding W.T. Preston only after boarding is checked.
