☕ Seattle

Seattle is the busiest Alaska homeport in the US — a waterfront city of coffee, seafood, Pike Place Market and the Space Needle, with Mount Rainier on the horizon. Spend a night before your cruise to enjoy it.

Step by step

Getting ashore

Seattle has two cruise terminals: Bell Street Pier 66 downtown and Smith Cove Pier 91 in the Interbay area.

  1. 1
    Confirm your terminal

Pier 66 is walkable from downtown hotels; Pier 91 needs a taxi or shuttle.

  2. 2
    Get there from SEA

Light rail to downtown plus a short taxi, or a direct transfer (30–40 minutes).

  3. 3
    Drop bags and board

Porters at the kerb; check-in takes 30–60 minutes.

💡 Pro move: Round-trip Seattle cruises must stop in Canada — every guest needs a passport or other valid travel document.

Port-specific access research

Mobility & accessibility in Seattle

Seattle's major viewpoints have specific lift arrangements; market sightseeing also needs a planned elevator route rather than a stair shortcut.

Published sources reviewed October 17, 2026. This is desk research, not an on-site access audit. Access can change with the ship, berth, equipment and operating conditions.

Attractions and excursions: what changes the choice

Space Needle

Lifts and scooters permitted; some areas restricted

The operator confirms lifts to the observation deck and rotating glass floor and permits mobility scooters, while warning that not all historic areas are accessible. Arrange the courtesy entrance and any between-floor assistance with staff.

Official access information ↗

Pike Place Market and Great Wheel

Elevator routes and roll-on gondola option

Visit Seattle identifies multiple market elevators and a lift allowing wheelchair boarding of the Great Wheel gondolas. These are distinct accessible experiences, but the route between cruise terminal, waterfront and market needs its own transport and elevation plan.

A practical way to plan this port

Planning suggestion: choose one compact area—Seattle Center or waterfront/market—with agreed elevator routes and an adapted terminal transfer.

Confirm before booking

  • Cruise terminal and accessible vehicle pickup; terminals are not interchangeable.
  • Market elevator outages and the entrance closest to your planned stalls.
  • Wheel/gondola limits for a larger powered device.
