Bar Harbor is a pretty Maine resort town on Mount Desert Island and the gateway to Acadia National Park — granite peaks, rocky coastline, carriage roads and the first sunrise in the US from Cadillac Mountain. Lobster is mandatory.

Port-specific access research
Mobility & accessibility in Bar Harbor
Acadia has selected accessible viewpoints and trails, but its carriage roads are not uniformly flat and its full hiking network is unsuitable for many devices.
Published sources reviewed October 17, 2026. This is desk research, not an on-site access audit. Access can change with the ship, berth, equipment and operating conditions.
Attractions and excursions: what changes the choice
Jordan Pond viewpoints
Selected paths from north lower lot
NPS directs visitors to the north lower parking lot for some accessible paths with pond views and carriage-road connections. That does not describe a completely accessible circuit of the pond; rocky and boardwalk shoreline sections need a different assessment.
Loose gravel; ramp-equipped carriage by reservation
NPS warns of loose gravel on the shared carriage roads. It also documents a custom carriage at Wildwood Stables with a rear wheelchair ramp and companion bench seats, recommending early reservations because space is limited. Confirm device fit and the route with the operator rather than assuming an ordinary carriage has the same boarding arrangement.
Planning suggestion: arrange an adapted Acadia drive with a short Jordan Pond viewing route, then add only a specifically assessed boardwalk or carriage-road segment.
