Provincetown, at the very tip of Cape Cod, is where the Pilgrims first landed in 1620. Today it's a vibrant, arty and welcoming town with galleries, dunes and some of the best whale watching on the East Coast. Ships anchor and tender to MacMillan Pier.

Mobility & accessibility in Provincetown
Provincetown's inclined elevator reaches the monument grounds, not the top of the tower; the summit remains a stair-and-ramp climb.
Published sources reviewed October 17, 2026. This is desk research, not an on-site access audit. Access can change with the ship, berth, equipment and operating conditions.
Attractions and excursions: what changes the choice
Bradford Street inclined elevator
Step-free hill link during museum hours
The monument operator provides an inclined elevator connecting Bradford Street and its hilltop grounds, included with admission. Its operating hours match the museum's, so it cannot be assumed available for an early or late cruise arrival.
The operator's visitor guide describes the interior climb as 116 steps and 60 ramps. The word 'ramps' does not make the summit a wheelchair route; an inclined-elevator ride to the grounds is a different experience from climbing the tower.
Planning suggestion: plan the grounds and a preconfirmed museum route using the Bradford Street elevator, leaving the tower ascent out of a step-free itinerary.
