Port-specific access research

Mobility & accessibility in Loreto

Loreto's town-centre mission and its offshore wildlife outings have different access questions; published tourism descriptions do not certify either route.

Published sources reviewed October 17, 2026. This is desk research, not an on-site access audit. Access can change with the ship, berth, equipment and operating conditions.

Getting ashore and reaching the sights

Princess lists Loreto among water-shuttle ports and warns that tender movement, weather, shore facilities and lifting limits can prevent a mobility-device user from going ashore. Establish the arrangements for your own ship before reserving a town or boat excursion. Port / arrival source ↗

Attractions and excursions: what changes the choice

Jesuit Missions Museum

Historic six-exhibition museum; access not certified

INAH's own listing locates the museum beside the mission in a seventeenth-century former storehouse and lists six permanent exhibitions. It lists toilets but does not identify them as adapted or document a continuous step-free route. Ask the museum about its actual entrance and galleries rather than assuming modern museum access.

Boat boarding needs vessel-specific confirmation

The same destination authority promotes kayaking, whale watching and trips to uninhabited islands. These activity descriptions do not establish a ramp-equipped boat, occupied-chair securement, accessible onboard toilet or firm beach landing.

A practical way to plan this port

Planning suggestion: seek a short, verified town-centre itinerary if a boat operator cannot document an acceptable boarding and landing method.

Confirm before booking

  • Ship-to-shore arrangements and device acceptance on your sailing.
  • Mission/museum thresholds and accessible toilet.
  • Named boat, transfer method and island landing surface if going offshore.
